Don’t Miss the Strawberry Moon Thursday Night!

June’s full moon, also known as the Strawberry Moon, occurs on June 9. The moon will officially be full at 9:09 AM, once the sun is already up. So, the best viewing for the Strawberry Moon will be on Thursday night. Weather wise, it’s looking like a great night to head outside! Expect clearing skies and temperatures in the mid-50s.
Where did the strawberry moon get its name? June’s full moon is known as the strawberry moon because the month of June is when strawberries are ready for harvest. It can also be referred to as the Rose Moon because roses bloom during this time of year.
This month’s full moon is also being called a “mini-moon ” because it is the smallest full moon we'll see all year. This full moon will be the farthest from Earth than any other full moon during the year, making it appear smaller and fainter than most.
Make sure you head outside tonight for a glimpse of the Strawberry Moon!
