Delaware plans to uphold Paris Agreement

In Delaware, Gov. John Carney is joining 13 other states in upholding the Paris Agreement to combat climate change.

This coming a week after President Trump announced he would withdraw the US from the agreement.

In the agreement, the U.S. is supposed to achieve 26 to 28 percent reduction in emissions from 2005 levels by 2025.

Gov. Carney said in a statement Monday, "Delaware is the country's lowest-lying state and with 381 miles of coastline, climate change is a very real threat to our future. As sea levels rise, more than 17,000 Delaware homes, nearly 500 miles of roadway and thousands of acres of wildlife habitat including our critical wetlands are at risk of permanent inundation."

Virginia has also joined the alliance and as of Monday afternoon Maryland has not.
