Baltimore man catches first white marlin of the season in Ocean City

Officials say that the first White Marlin of the 2017 season has been reeled in in Ocean City last Saturday.
According to the town of Ocean City, the highly anticipated "first white marlin" of the season has been caught, as anglers in the town are celebrating.
David Taylor of Baltimore caught the first white marlin of 2017 on Saturday June 17. The marlin was reportedly caught at 12 p.m. while the crew of "Reel Buster" was fishing off the shore of Ocean City, in the area of Poorman's Canyon.
The fish was let go after the catch.
As the angler was catching the first white marlin of the season, Taylor will get a $5,000 prize awarded by the town of Ocean City.
Mayor Rick Meehan says, "Ocean City is proud to be the White Marlin Capital of the World. What a fantastic way to kick off the start to our summer than the first white marlin catch of the season. It's a symbolic start to the fishing season and hopefully a sign of many more for our offshore fishermen this summer."
The prize money will be given to Taylor at the Mayor and Council Regular Session meeting on July 3.
