Advocates hope to encourage legislators to vote for the Marijuana Control Act

Several members from the Delaware Cannabis Advocacy Network met with legislators for one last effort this session on Thursday, June 22, 2017.

Their goal? To build momentum behind House Bill 110.

House Bill 110 is also known as The Marijuana Control Act. This would allow marijuana to be taxed through a regulated system like alcohol.

Advocates met with legislators for the 11th time in hopes to push for this bill right before session closes on June 30th.

They say the passing of this bill would create significant revenue along with over 2,000 jobs and that it would even save tax payers money.

"Lawmakers are posed to raise taxes across the board from income taxes, property taxes, taxes on seniors, and we're the only industry that's coming here, as well as consumer based asking to be taxed," Zoe Patchell says, the president of Delaware's Cannabis Advocacy Network.

We are told they will be meeting again next week from Tuesday to Thursday pushing legislators to pass the bill this year.
