Women build strength with Habitat

Habitat for Humanity's 'National Women Build Week' is an annual week-long event created by Habitat's Women Build program in partnership with Lowe's, who help by supplying materials.
On Friday, you could find a group of women who work at Lowe's in Salisbury, one of five homes in the area being revitalized thanks to this program this week.
Women Build Week runs from Tuesday to Saturday, and Dave Loveland, jobsite supervisor for Habitat, says about 200 volunteers have come out this week, adding up to a lot of hours volunteered.
Tina Nichols is a human resources manager at Lowe's and describes herself as a "fixer upper." She took her hobby and used it to help someone else with their dream of homeownership.
"Even on a personal level to be able to come out and help somebody , it's so satisfying to know that you're being a part of something bigger than just yourself… I know what it means to own your own home, put your own touches on it, do your own things. Like I said, I do this type of stuff around my house. So she is going to be able to do that, and bring her family into a home of her own, its just so rewarding, knowing that she's a part of that and we could be a part of that is truly satisfying."
And the project not only helps the families that move into the homes, but the community abroad.
"It's contagious. You put working class people into these homes and you give them a hand in homeownership just builds integrity, it builds a base and people just grow from there. It's contagious, it's great for the neighborhood."
