Two juveniles charged in connection to 2016 Stevensville arson

The Maryland Office of the State Fire Marshal announced Friday that two Queen Anne's County juveniles have been charged in connection to a June 2016 arson in Stevensville.

On June 12, 2016, firefighters with the United Communities Fire Company responded to a vacant house fire in the 200 block of Oregon Road. It took 20 firefighters approximately 20 minutes to get the fire under control. Fire marshals determined at the time that the fire had been intentionally started in the home's foyer.

The fire caused an estimated $5,000 in damages, officials said.

An investigation has now resulted in charges being brought against two juveniles. One juvenile is charged with first degree arson, burglary, malicious burning and malicious destruction of property while the other is charged with burglary.

Officials say a request has been made to the Maryland Department of Juvenile Services for formal court action.
