SU student wins big on ‘Ellen’

One Salisbury University student is feeling pretty lucky, that's because he won big during his visit to the Ellen Show.

Twenty-five year old Daquan Mincy is getting his masters degrees in education

He tells 47 ABC he wrote a letter to Ellen Degeneres about his desire to be a teacher and positively impact students. As a result, he received free tickets to the show.

However, little did he know he would be invited on stage to play Ellen's Wheel of Riches, where he won $100,000.

"I was super surprised, I didn't know that any of that was going to happen. I'm happy. And I am truly blessed that she called me down," says Mincy.

Mincy tells us he plans on using the money to pay off his student loans.
