Seaford man pleads guilty on heroin distribution and gun charges

A Seaford man pleaded guilty Wednesday on drug and firearms charges, U.S. Department of Justice officials announced.
Bob Bennett, 35, was the subject of a drug investigation by Seaford Police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. On November 4th of last year, officials say a search warrant executed at Bennett's home revealed a loaded .40 caliber firearm and safes filled with more than 3,000 bags of heroin.
Officers say the heroin bags were individually stamped, some with the words "Donald Trump" and others with "Ferrari."
"This plea reflects the outstanding cooperative work of Seaford Police and the ATF," Acting U.S. Attorney David C. Weiss said. "From Seaford to Wilmington, our state is not immune to the heroin epidemic afflicting the nation. This case shows we will use the tools at our disposal–federal, state and local–to bring justice to those responsible."
Bennett's sentencing hearing has been scheduled for September 14th. Department of Justice officials say he faces a mandatory minimum of five years for the charge of possessing and using a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.
