Police: Salisbury man arrested for assaulting deputy

Carlos Palmer, 37, Salisbury

A Salisbury man has been arrested for reportedly charging at and pushing a Wicomico County Sheriff's deputy while intoxicated last month.

The Wicomico County Sheriff's Office says on April 7th, a deputy responded to Delaware Avenue in Salisbury for a reported disturbance. When the deputy was investigating a fight that happened before his arrival, 37-year-old Carlos Palmer allegedly approached the deputy yelling and interfering with his investigation.

Palmer also reportedly charged at and pushed the deputy. Officials say he then resisted arrest and fell to the ground while ripping the deputy's shirt. Palmer then passed out on the ground, police said, later waking up surprised to find himself in handcuffs.

Palmer was charged with assault and disorderly conduct. He has been committed to the Wicomico County Detention Center on a $5,000 bond.
