Milford man arrested on terroristic threatening, offensive touching charges

A Milford man was arrested shortly before 1 AM Saturday on various charges after an altercation at the Brightway Commons development, police said.
Officials say 35-year-old Jamaal Artis, of Milford, was in an argument with a victim that became physical. Artis reportedly damaged the victim's cell phone with a hammer and threatened to kill the victim. Police say a child was present during the incident and that other residents at the development were alarmed at Artis' reported disorderly behavior.
Officers arrested Artis and transported him to the Milford Police Department, where police say they found Artis had posted inappropriate photos of the victim to a social media site.
Artis is charged with possessing a destructive weapon, violation of privacy, terroristic threatening, endangering the welfare of a child, offensive touching, criminal mischief under $1,000, disorderly conduct and failure to comply with taking of photos and fingerprints. He has been committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on a secured bail of $10,300 and a $1,000 cash bail.
