Memorial service honors fallen Del. law enforcement

Wednesday, folks law enforcement, lawmakers, and the community members gathered to remember Delaware officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.
"We are forever indebted for all that is done to protect us and to make our communities a better place to live," says Senator David McBride.
Emotions ran high as officials read the names of the officers who sacrificed their lives.
"Lieutenant Steven Floyd, Corporal Stephen J. Ballard," says Cpl. Franklin D. Cooke.
This February, Sergeant Steven Floyd, a correctional officer, was found dead during a prison uprising at the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center. Just last week, Corporal Stephen Ballard was gunned down at a Wawa in Bear.
"These two men will no longer return home to a loved one," says Rep. Peter Schwartzkopf.
During Wednesday's memorial service, Delaware officials thanked the men and women in blue for performing a dangerous and difficult job, but also encouraged Delawareans to continue supporting the families who are grieving the loss of these brave men and women.
"We will never get over their loss, but we can at least find the strength to cope with it find and peace in our heart," says Rep. Schwartzkopf.
Funeral arrangements have been made for Corporal Ballard. Public visitation will take place on Friday at 8:30 AM at the Chase Center in Wilmington, followed by a memorial service.
