Locals walk the OC Boardwalk for child abuse

Folks weren't just in Salisbury raising awareness for child abuse Sunday, but in Ocean City too with the Cricket Center's 4th Annual Walk for Kids event.

It's all in an effort to bring light to the issue of child abuse that is present locally on the shore. The Cricket Center is Worcester County's only child advocacy center.

They deal with child abuse cases on a daily bases providing therapy to victims, but since they're a nonprofit, they never charge for their services.

So today was all about raising awareness about the evident issue of child abuse while also fundraising to keep their efforts going.

Cricket Center Director, Wendy Myers, tells 47 ABC, "Our main objective is to always reduce the trauma of abuse to kids so that is our objective. We provide mental health and medical intervention for our kids and all of that's done through our non profit."

The Center had more than 100 people participating in the walk, plus Hooter's on the boardwalk donated food and drinks for the cause.
