Families celebrate Mother’s Day across Delmarva

With the sun shining across Delmarva, it was the perfect day for families to celebrate Mother's Day.

It's a holiday dedicated to motherhood and it all started in 1907 thanks to a woman named Ann Jarvis. She wanted to honor her mother who founded a social activist club to help soldiers fighting in the Civil War.

Since the U.S. adopted the holiday in 1914, it has been a day for folks to say thank you to all mothers.

47 ABC caught up with a few local families who were enjoying their days.

One daughter talks about her mom telling us, " She means the world to me. She's very loving and caring and I really appreciate it."

And for one local grandma, it's been the perfect day, "It's great having my family, my grandchildren all together and we go to brunch, we go to the rides, it's a great day and the weather is great."
