DUI suspect collided with a trooper’s car in West Ocean City

In West Ocean City, a DUI suspect collided with a trooper's car on Saturday night, officials said.

Corporal Lenz was patrolling the area of east U.S. Route 50, when police say the intoxicated driver attempted to make a left turn from westbound US 50 onto Elm Street.

According to police, the driver pulled into the trooper's path and Corporal Lenz was unable to avoid striking the vehicle.

The patrol unit suffered extensive damage. Corporal Lenz was treated and released for his injuries.

64-year-old Kathleen Ellen West of Ocean City was arrested for a  DUI along with Failure to Grant Right of Way.

West and her two adult passengers were not injured in the collision.
