Dishwasher malfunction blamed for Crisfield house fire

The Maryland Office of the State Fire Marshal says a dishwasher malfunction is the cause for a Monday morning Crisfield house fire.

At around 10:16 AM, firefighters responded to the 26000 block of Mariners Road for a house fire, with it ultimately taking 50 firefighters approximately two hours to control the blaze, officials said.

Investigators determined that the fire started in the home's kitchen, stemming from a dishwasher failure. Fire marshals say damages to the structure are estimated at $200,000 while the loss of contents of the home is estimated at $50,000.
