Delaware man serving life sentence for murder is convicted of assaulting a correctional officer

A Delaware man serving a life sentence for murder has been convicted of assaulting a correctional officer.

Delaware officials say 27-year-old Eric Dolby repeatedly punched a correctional officer at the James T. Vaughn Correctional Institution in February 2016 after the officer ordered Dolby to get back in his cell.

Authorities say the officer's nose, cheekbones and collarbone were broken in the beating. The officer also had to get a titanium plate permanently affixed in his face.

Dolby is expected to be sentenced in July.

Dolby is serving a life sentence for the 2008 killing of a Dover man.
