Delaware House passes measure clearing insurance barriers

In Delaware, the House has passed a measure clearing insurance barriers to in-patient addiction treatment.

Officials say Senate bill 41 would save lives and help stop the addiction epidemic. The bill would make health insurers cover necessary treatment for addiction such as diagnosis, medication and addiction withdrawal.

It would also cover treatment for up to two weeks without requiring patients to clear pre-admission hurdles like pre-authorization or medical referrals.
