Crisfield Police Department reveals major year-long undercover drug investigation

The city of Crisfield revealed some new information.
Over the past year, the local police department performed an intensive undercover operation.
41 individuals are being charged in Crisfield, after their police department conducted a year-long undercover drug investigation.
"We have a heroin, fentanyl, opioid problem just like everybody else in this country does. This may be small town America but it's everywhere. Crisfield Police Department and City of Crisfield have taken a step to do something about this," Chief Michael Tabor says.
As the epidemic of opioids and heroin sweep across the nation, Chief Tabor said the city decided to take matters into their own hands, hoping to put a dent in this problem.
Last year, the police department hired an undercover officer to infiltrate Crisfield's narcotics industry.
Chief Tabor says, "We were able to mesh the officer into the environment by utilizing different sources to achieve that goal. Placing him into a local hotel and into their world sort of speak. The deep cover officer was able to buy heroin, opioids and many other drugs at will from various drug dealers throughout the city of Crisfield."
We are told the drug deals weren't just based off one incident, as the deals were done four to fives times.
Drugs, money, and guns were recovered during this investigation.
This town of around 3,000, it's a testament to the police department and the 10 officers who serve under Chief Tabor.
"Those pictures on that wall in a community of 2,700 tell you how prevalent this problem is out there," Mayor Kim Lawson says.
Three weeks ago, the Crisfield Police Department and 100 other officers used 18 different warrants to get evidence for court.
They tell 47 ABC that they will continue their work, in the meantime, they're asking anyone who needs help or knows someone that needs help to take advantage of the county's resources.
