Camden man charged in theft of vehicle

A Camden man has been arrested for reportedly stealing a car from a driveway of an area neighborhood.

According to officials, a Delaware State trooper on proactive patrol near South Governors Avenue recognized a stolen Honda Civic from a reported theft that occurred Saturday.

The driver, Eric C. Andrews, 29, of Camden, was taken into custody and said the vehicle was unlocked with the key in the ignition, police said.

Andrews was arrested and taken to Troop 3 in Camden where he was charged with theft of a motor vehicle, driving while suspended, failure to have insurance and registration and failure to signal.

He was arraigned before Justice of the Peace Court 7 and committed to the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center in default of $702 secured bond.
