Public tips help Maryland State Police ID suspect in Sharptown burglary

Maryland State Police say a Lewes man was arrested Wednesday night in connection to a Tuesday burglary in Sharptown.
The suspect, who police later identified as Dashaun Alexander L. Truitt of Lewes, was caught on a security camera breaking into a residence on Joe Morgan Road at around 9:15 Tuesday morning, police said. The suspect reportedly stole several items and fled the scene in a blue sedan. Multiple witnesses told police that they noticed an unfamiliar blue sedan parked at the home.
On Wednesday troopers released images from the security camera, asking for the public's assistance to identify the suspect. Officials say troopers received multiple tips and developed Truitt as the suspect, arresting him Wednesday evening.
Truitt is charged with multiple burglary and theft charges and is currently being held at the Wicomico County Detention Center on a bail of $75,000, officials said.
Maryland State Police is thanking the public for their help in assisting with the case.
