Police: Grasonville-area search ends with arrest of suspect who fled traffic stop

UPDATE: Officials are now saying that the suspect has been arrested.

Original post: Law enforcement are currently searching for a man who fled a traffic stop Friday morning and ran into a wooded area near Grasonville, officials said.

According to Maryland Natural Resources Police and the Queen Anne's County Office of the Sheriff, an officer with Natural Resources Police attempted to pull over a motorcycle at U.S. Route 50 and Nesbit Road. The motorcycle operator reportedly fled from the motorcycle and ran into a wooded area.

Officials say multiple agencies including Maryland State Police and the Queen Anne's Sheriff's Office are searching the area with K9s and helicopter assistance.

It is unclear at this point if the man is armed. The Queen Anne's County Sheriff's Office describes the suspect as a Hispanic male dressed in black.

Grasonville Elementary School was placed on a modified lockdown, officials said.
