Local mother passes away from ALS

An emotional update to a story we first brought to you a couple months ago as we have learned that Berlin mom, Lisa Early, has lost her battle to ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease.

Early was diagnosed with ALS in February of 2015. A few months ago in December of 2016 47 ABC's Dani Bozzini had the pleasure of meeting Lisa and her family who stood by her side every step of the way.

Just over a year ago Lisa was baking and cooking and in her final weeks she lost all function in her body except speech, something that's common in ALS patients, according to the ALS Association.

This past year was a battle many can't even imagine going through, but what her three children and grandson admire most was her strength.

No matter how hard it was for Lisa, she got up everyday and fought with compassion and love with her family by her side.
