Kent and Sussex County announce expansion of Syringe Services Program

Brandywine Counseling and Community Services in Wilmington recently announced the expansion of its Syringe Services Program to Kent and Sussex counties.

Brandywine has partnered with the ACE Peer Resource Center in Seaford for this syringe exchange.

"We don't want people dying in the streets with dirty needles and we're trying to do, like let's do something that makes sense for folks who are in active addiction we don't want them to die, " ACE Center Executive Director, Jim Martin tell 47 ABC.

Martin says Seaford is being crushed by the opioid epidemic and they want to be there as a solution for this population that hasn't reached out for recovery yet.

Now, he does say this is a controversial topic but they are hoping to save lives.

The funding comes from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.

ACE center meaning acceptance, challenge, and empowerment says they are ready to help anyone on their journey to recovery.
