Dover Police arrest man on firearm charges following traffic stop

Dover Police say they arrested a Dover man on drug and firearm charges Monday afternoon during a traffic stop.

Officers reportedly noticed a bag of marijuana sitting in the center console of a car in the area of DuPont Highway and Division Street. Officers made contact with Michael Palmer Jr., 29, and conducted a search of the vehicle.

Police say they found a .25 caliber handgun, 12.4 grams of marijuana and $3,792 in cash, believed to be drug proceeds.

Palmer was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition by a person prohibited, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, possession with intent to deliver marijuana and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

Palmer was released on $113,500 unsecured bond, officials said.
