Carney to talk with Delawareans over budget

Governor Carney will continue a series of community meeting with Delawareans about the challenges with the state's budget.

Republican state Representative Lyndon Yearick is scheduled to join Carney for a "budget reset" community conversation Monday evening in Camden.

Another community meeting with Republican Representative Kevin Hensley is scheduled for Tuesday morning in Middletown.

Carney has proposed a mix of tax increase and spending cut for the fiscal year starting July 1 to help put a dent in the estimated $385 million shortfall between expected revenue and expenses for fiscal year 2018.

Carney's proposed $4.09 billion operating budget represents an increase of about one-third of a percent over the current budget.
