Cambridge man accused of sexually assaulting minor

Michael A. Hawks, 53, of Cambridge, Md.

Cambridge Police say they arrested a Cambridge man Thursday on rape and child abuse charges for reportedly sexually assaulting a minor.

At around 1:15 PM Thursday, officers responded to a sexual assault complaint made by a female juvenile, officials said. Detectives learned from the girl that a man who hired her to walk his dogs had reportedly sexually assaulted her on multiple occassions.

Police say the victim also alerted detectives that the man, who she knew by the name of "Hawk," had given her marijuana.

Investigators identified the suspect as Michael A. Hawks, 53, and obtained a search and seizure warrant for his residence, officials said.

Police arrested Hawks and charged him with second degree rape, second and third degree sex offense, child abuse and distribution of marijuana. He has been committed to the Dorchester County Detention Center without bond.
