Vacant Crisfield manufacturing facility could re-open its doors

One building that has been sitting vacant for almost 9 years in Crisfield could soon have a business moving in.

Carvel Hall closed it's doors in 2008 and was used as a manufacturing facility for cutlery. The Crisfield City Manager says they have a prospect interested in purchasing the facility and rehabilitating it.

Although officials did not get into specifics of the proposed business, they do say the building would be used for commercial and industrial purposes  because of how the property is zoned.

"We want to give everybody a total transparent vision of what could happen at Carvel Hall, and that could be a very big thing for the town, it will mean new jobs. It will be taking kind of a blighted area out of that state and put it into full productivity," says Rick Pollitt, the City Manager.

Pollitt says the mayor and council will get a a private preview of the business presentation  this week, and next Wednesday there will be a public hearing to show folks what has been proposed.
