Sussex Co. Habitat for Humanity leads community revitalization effort in Laurel

On Saturday, it was all hands on deck as volunteers hit the streets of Laurel in an effort to spruce parts of the town.

This was part of a community revitalization event called Rock the Block. The event was organized by the Sussex County Habitat for Humanity.

Members tells us prior to Saturday's event, they met with town leaders to pinpoint areas and houses that were in need of some fixing up.

"Anybody who drives by is going to see what is going on in the outside first, so we are doing a lot of work such as cleaning up yards, you know that makes a big difference. Going around picking up trash. A little bit of painting here and there," says Audrey Miller, the Repair Program Coordinator at Sussex County Habitat for Humanity.

Habitat will host another Rock the Block event on Saturday, April 8th. However, this time they will be heading to Seaford. Habitat members tell us they are looking for volunteers to help with their cleanup efforts.

Anyone interested in volunteering is asked to contact the Sussex County Habitat for Community at (302) 855-1153 Ext. 207.
