Police: Man arrested for disorderly conduct outside Georgetown Elementary

Marco Marin, 35, of Kennett Square, Pa.

Georgetown Police say a Pennsylvania man was arrested Wednesday afternoon near Georgetown Elementary after he allegedly became disorderly.

At around 2 PM, police say the Georgetown School Resource Officer, a member of the Georgetown Police Department, responded to a report of a suspicious man in the Georgetown Elementary School parking lot. As the officer arrived on the scene, the man reportedly started walking away toward Pine Street. The officer told the man to stop, but he refused and tried to run away, officials said.

The officer followed and the two began struggling on Pine Street, the skirmish causing damage to a car parked nearby, police said. A constable with the Indian River School District helped the officer arrest the man, who police identified as 35-year-old Marco Marin of Kennett Square, Pa.

Marin is charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and criminal mischief. Marin was also wanted by Delaware State Police for terroristic threatening and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. He has been committed to the Sussex Correctional Institute on a $3,500 secured bond.
