Police: Intoxicated man steals vehicle from Royal Farms in Milford

The Milford Police Department says a Milford man was arrested Thursday night for DUI after he allegedly stole a vehicle from Royal Farms.
Shortly before 11:30 PM, police say they received a report that a white Ford Escape had been stolen from the Royal Farms on Delaware Route 1. Officers driving to the Royal Farms reportedly saw a white Ford Escape driving southbound on South Rehoboth Boulevard and pulled behind it.
While following the Escape, police ran the plate number and matched it to the stolen vehicle. Police say officers also observed that the driver was drifting back and forth in the lane.
Police pulled the Escape over and identified the driver as 42-year-old Todd Fannin. Officers reportedly smelled alcohol and determined that Fannin was under the influence of both alcohol and another drug.
Officers arrested Fannin and charged him with motor vehicle theft and driving under the influence of a combination of alcohol and any drug. He has been committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution in default of a secured bail of $2,500. Officials say Fannin has been issued a no-contact order with the car's owner and with Royal Farms.
Milford Police say members of the Dover Police Department and a drug recognition expert assisted officers on this case.
