Over 200 Delaware correctional officers attend town hall

In Dover a town hall held by the Correctional Officer's Association of Delaware tonight drew over 200 correctional officers and Governor John Carney.

The meeting was closed to the press but 47 ABC spoke with Carney before the event.

He said he's all ears when it comes to issues correctional officers face on a daily basis.

And after the meeting association president Geoff Klopp, told 47 ABC that Carney's attendance tonight is already more than any other politician, that he knows, has done before.

Klopp says Carney heard testimonies from CO’s helping him understand the urgency of this situation.

The meeting comes nearly two months after a 16-year veteran of the Delaware Department of Corrections was killed after an inmate uprising at the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center.

Klopp also told 47 ABC that he looks forward to continuing the conversation with the governor and believes there will be meaningful changes in the near future.
