JTVCC review findings expected in June

On Thursday during Governor John Carney’s General Assembly Address, the Governor talked briefly about the problems that exist the Department of Corrections.
After acknowledging and thanking Officer Joshua Wilkinson, who was held hostage during the February 1st incident at the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center, the Governor reiterated his commitment to an independent review.
The review was launched just 12 days after the tragedy at the Center and is expected to be completed by June 1, 2017.
For Geoff Klopp, President of the Correctional Officers Association of Delaware, the review needs to end sooner so changes can be made quickly.
“You know. June 1 is two months away and that is entirely too long,” said Klopp. “We look forward to having a resolution on the compensation by May 1 as requested. Every day that goes by with more talking less action is another bad day for correctional officers in the state of Delaware.”
