Fruitland man to spend 24 years behind bars for multiple robberies, burglary

A Wicomico County Circuit Court judge has sentenced 33-year-old Antwane Curtis Jones to 52 years in prison, with all but 24 years of that time suspended, the Office of the State's Attorney for Wicomico County announced Thursday.
Jones pleaded guilty in November to three counts of robbery and one count of second degree burglary. His charges stemmed from incidents last April and May when Jones robbed two stores, a post office and burglarized a restaurant.
The Wicomico County State's Attorney's Office says the first crime happened on April 17, 2016 when Jones burglarized the Lucky Star restaurant in Fruitland. Over the next couple of weeks, Jones robbed the Fruitland Wine Rack, the owner of Educational Supplies Inc. in Salisbury and the U.S. Post Office in Fruitland.
On May 5th, the day after Jones' post office robbery, the Fruitland Police Department executed a search and seizure warrant at Jones' home where they found evidence linking him to each of the crimes. Jones was arrested and has been held since at the Wicomico County Detention Center.
Upon release after serving 24 years, Jones will be placed on 3 years of supervised probation.
