Fire Chiefs Association sends decision on Station One volunteers to sub-committee

The efforts of the former Salisbury Station One volunteers to become their own fire station have hit another road block–Wednesday night the Wicomico County Fire Chiefs Association voted to place the decision into a sub-committee.

The Radio Committee will decide whether Station One would be recognized and whether they would have a right to respond to fires in their territory. If their recognition passes through the committee, the proposal would have to come back in front of the Fire Chiefs Association for a final approval.

There is no timetable on when the sub-committee will make their decision, however, officials with the city tell 47 ABC that the proposal could be back in front of the Fire Chiefs Association as soon as April 26th.

The Corporation, a band of volunteer firefighters who worked out of Salisbury's Station One, previously announced their plans to leave the city and cover the portion of the county they once served.
