Environmental assessment to take place before relocating Assateague Island campsites

The National Park Service has set a date for a public meeting regarding improvements to Assateague State Park. Officials say this is in support of a new strategy for relocating campsites at its Oceanside Campground that are lost or repeatedly damages by coastal storms.
Before making any changes, the National Park Service will be doing an Environmental Assessment that will address any potential impacts to natural or cultural resources from this proposed project. Some of the places they will be assessing are historical sites, wetlands, and endangered plants.
The meeting is scheduled for March 30th at the Assateague Island National Seashore Environmental Educational Center in Berlin.
