Caroline Co. man partners with community to send scrolls for troops

It may only be March, but one Caroline County man is partnering up with the local community to get a head start to an annual project that aims to spread cheer to troops during the holidays.

For the past 23 years,  George Jackson has been sending scrolls filled with messages to troops overseas during Christmas time.

Sunday morning,  Jackson was at Gun Bash, which is an event in Cambridge. Jackson had a tables set up with folks signing his scrolls.

He tells 47 ABC he has about 300 feet of paper filled with messages so far. Jackson says in the past years he has had scrolls that are over 1,300 feet  long by the time they were delivered to troops.

He says he is looking to attend more community events throughout Delmarva to continue sending heartfelt messages to those who are in the line of duty.

"It's something great that he does with the troops and I'm just very glad we can help him with this," says Rosemary Dean, one of the organizers of Gunbash.

For those interested in signing Jackson's scrolls, the next time you can catch him is on Saturday, April 1st at a car show in American Corner, MD.
