Cambridge woman charged for leading police on Route 50 pursuit, ramming police vehicles

The Cambridge Police Department says a Cambridge woman was arrested early Tuesday morning after she allegedly drove at oncoming traffic on U.S. Route 50 and rammed three police vehicles.
At around 2:15 AM, officers noticed a vehicle driving westbound in the eastbound lanes of Route 50 in Cambridge. As police signaled the driver to pull over, the vehicle reportedly sped up, continuing to head toward oncoming traffic. As more officers responded, the driver rammed two Cambridge police vehicles and continued to flee.
Police say officers deployed spike strips ahead of the vehicle, deflating all four of the vehicle's tires. However, the driver continued driving on flats, officials said. The vehicle struck one more Cambridge Police vehicle before finally coming to a stop. The driver then reportedly refused to unlock her doors or exit the car; police removed the driver by force and placed her under arrest.
The driver is identified as 38-year-old Louise H. Jones.
She is charged with two counts of first degree assault, two counts of second degree assault, failing to obey an officer, fleeing and eluding and a multitude of other traffic violations. She is currently being held at the Dorchester County Detention Center.
