69-year-old woman assaulted in North Dover home invasion; suspect in custody

Delaware State Police say a Smyrna man was arrested Tuesday evening and charged for his role in a North Dover home invasion that sent a woman to the hospital.
At around 7:45 PM, police say they received a call from a 69-year-old woman who reported that a man had broken into her home, demanded cash and assaulted her. The man reportedly kicked and punched the victim, stole $2,000 from her residence and then fled the area.
Police say the woman gave them a description of the man and what he was wearing. An hour and half later, troopers say they spotted a man matching the description walking near Scarborough Road and U.S. Route 13. The man was identified as 50-year-old Ronald L. Keis of Smyrna. Troopers say they found the victim's money in Keis' pockets.
Troopers arrested Keis and charged him with home invasion, first degree robbery, second degree assault and tampering with physical evidence. He has been committed to the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center on a cash bond of $132,000.
The woman was transported to Bayhealth Kent General Hospital to be treated for her injuries.
