Vehicle occupants sent to Shock Trauma after serious Denton collision

A serious accident in Denton Friday morning sent at least two people to Shock Trauma in Baltimore, Denton Police report.

At around 11:48 AM, Denton Police say they responded to a vehicle collision on eastbound Shore Highway near Deep Shore Road.

Police say it appears a 2015 Ford Edge was struck in the rear by a 1995 Buick Park Avenue as the Ford was slowing for a red light ahead.

After striking the Ford, the Buick reportedly rolled over off the roadway and into a ditch where it caught fire.

The occupants of the Buick were transported by the Maryland State Police Aviation Division to Shock Trauma in Baltimore. Police have not released the names of the occupants of the number of occupants at this time.

The Ford's occupants were evaluated at the scene and did not require medical assistance, police said.

Based on witness reports, Denton Police believe a third vehicle also may have been involved in the accident, but left the scene before authorities arrived. It is described as a silver 4-door car with clearly visible damage from the accident.

Multiple agencies assisted with this incident, including the Caroline County Sheriff's Office, the Ridgely Police Department, Caroline County EMS, the Denton Volunteer Fire Company and the Maryland State Highway Administration.

Denton Police say no charges have been filed yet, but that may change once the investigation is completed.
