UPDATE: More inmates released during JTVCC hostage situation

As authorities continue to respond to a hostage situation at James T. Vaughn Correctional Center in Smyrna, additional inmates have reportedly been released.

At about 12:30 AM Thursday, officials say 14 additional inmates were released from Building C and are being held securely elsewhere in the facility.

The hostage situation began on Wednesday around 10:30 AM, when four members of Department of Correction staff were taken hostage in Building C at JTVCC. A total of 46 inmates and two Correctional Officers have been released. Currently, 82 inmates remain in Building C.
