Two opposing rallies meet in Salisbury

Saturday afternoon,  two opposing rallies met side by side in downtown Salisbury.

One side supporting the "No Ban No Wall No Registry" rally. The organizer of this rally is Molly Likovich. She says the rally is in opposition to President Donald Trump's immigration policies.

"The ones that specifically target Muslim and the immigrants and the refugees. We believe it's time for a change in the immigration process, and the way that we treat out Muslim citizens," says Molly Likovich.

The other side supported the "Resist The Resistance Salisbury" rally. Matt Adams, the organizer of this rally tells us they were here in support of President Trump.

"This is a response to the 'No Ban Bo Wall No Registry Rally'. We are here to be seen, stand-up, silent majority must stand up and be recognized," says Adams.

Eva Adlis, a resident from Westover tells 47 ABC she came out Saturday because she agrees with Trump's stance on immigration.

"You want to come to this country fine, that's not what we are saying you can't do. We just want people to do it legally," says Adlis.

However  Catherine McBrien from Salisbury feels differently. McBrien tells us she believes the recent policies have created a divide and has even led her to question her own patriotism.

"I have always been proud to be an American and I'm 76 years old. Tthis is the first time I am ashamed of being an American, when I see what this administration is doing to our wonderful country," says McBrien.

Patty Miler, a Salisbury University student and a member of a group called College Republicans says she believes both groups can come to an understanding,  but that's if they hear each other out.

"I personally came out to talk to the other side and understand where they are coming from. It is important to hear the other side and gain their perspective so we can all come together as a country," says Miller.

Both rally organizers tell us they will continue to protest for the causes they believe in. Matt Adams tells us he is ready to respond when he feels the need to show support for the president. Molly Likovich tells us she is working on a rally for Take Back the Night,  which raises awareness about sexual assault.
