Salisbury Police arrest man accused of robbing Wawa and La Quinta

Desmond Omar Croswell, 28, Salisbury, Md.

A man who allegedly robbed the Wawa and the La Quinta Inn and Suites on South Salisbury Boulevard was arrested by Salisbury Police and the Capitol Area Regional Fugitive Task Force on Thursday.

Desmond Omar Croswell, 28, of Salisbury, reportedly entered the Wawa at around 10:40 Saturday night and forcibly grabbed money from a cash register after he asked an employee to make change. Officials say he fled the store on foot.

About an hour later, police responded to a report of a robbery at the La Quinta. Again, Croswell reportedly asked an employee to make change.

Police say Croswell behaved in a way that made the employee believe he was armed. Croswell took cash and fled the scene on foot, police said.

No injuries were reported in either robbery.

Both the Wawa and the La Quinta had video surveillance cameras running at the time. Based on their investigation, police identified Croswell as the suspect and obtained a warrant for his arrest.

Officers say Croswell was arrested without incident. Police found more evidence linking him to the crimes with the execution of a search warrant.

Croswell is charged with armed robbery, robbery, assault and theft.

He has been transported to the Wicomico County Detention Center awaiting an appearance hearing before a District Court Commissioner, officials said.
