Punkin Chunkin back for another year

Saturday afternoon, Punkin Chunkin organizers announced that pumpkins will be flying over Sussex County later this year.
This is their first statement since their event this past November. At last year's event, a 39 year old Science Channel producer was critically wounded after an apparatus used to launch the pumpkins exploded in the air and heavy debris struck her head. This incident raised questions whether the event would return.
Frank Payton, the President of the Punkin Chunkin Association says the event will go on, but this time around the Science Channel will not be joining them.
They say the channel was one of their major event sponsors, so the association is asking for sponsors to be able to continue donating their profits back to the community.
"This year we were able to raise close to $150,000 dollars to give back to the community, $50,000 of that money went back to local Delaware non-profits. The other $100,000 went back to the State of Delaware, in use of the Department of Transportation, state police, county EMS, and Bridgeville Fire Company."
This year Punkin Chunkin will take place November 3rd-5th in Bridgeville, DE.
