Police: Greenwood man escaped from holding cell after kidnapping, assault arrest

Police say that a Greenwood man has been arrested on kidnapping, assault and other charges in Harrington after officers responded to a domestic dispute in progress on Monday.
According to Harrington Police, while on patrol, officers responded to a home on Commerce Street. When police arrived, they located all of the victims at another home on Commerce Street. Police spoke to the victims and learned that 26-year-old Tamar Bolden of Greenwood was the suspect. They also found out that when Bolden was at the home, he assaulted one adult victim and two children, ages 10 and 11, that were in the home.
Also while in the home, Bolden reportedly damaged property. Bolden then left the home before police arrived. While leaving the home, Bolden reportedly took a 2-year-old family member with him. Police say while they were still on the scene, Bolden returned to the scene without the child. He was then taken into custody.
Bolden, who police say was extremely intoxicated, failed to cooperate with police concerning where the child was. The child that Bolden took from the home was later located at a home on Hanley Street unharmed and under the care of an adult. Bolden was then taken back to the Harrington Police Department for processing.
Police say, while at the department, Bolden broke a window in a door to the holding cell and was able to unlock the door and leave the cell. Bolden then fled from the station on foot. The Harrington officer and a Greenwood PD officer who was helping began to chase Bolden on foot towards Dorman Street. Officers eventually caught up to Bolden as he was trying to jump a fence. Both officers reportedly deployed their department issued tasers and Bolden was taken into custody.
Bolden was taken back to the Harrington Police Department where he was processed and arraigned. He has been charged with second degree kidnapping, third degree assault, criminal mischief over $1,000, two counts of third degree child abuse, three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, resisting arrest, third degree escape and two counts of criminal mischief under $1,000. He was transported to Justice of the Peace Court three and arraigned.
Bolden was then committed to the Sussex Correctional Institute on default of $54,500 secured bond.
