Northwestern Elementary surpasses fundraising goal for Jump Rope for Heart

This is the first year that all Wicomico County schools, including elementary, middle and high, are participating in Jump Rope for Heart.
Jump Rope for Heart is a program where students raise money to help other children battling heart disease.
It appears Wicomico County is the only school system in the state to have 100% of the schools participating.
One of those schools, Northwestern Elementary in Mardela Springs had a fundraising goal of $25,000.
But we are told they surpassed that and reached $26,000.
On February 9, 2017, students were celebrating those fundraising achievements as they jump roped at 9 different stations.
Their P.E. teacher, Megan Block, has been the main organizer for the past 9 years and she could not be more proud of her students.
We're told over the past 9 years, the school raised more than $105,000.
One of the students at Northwestern Elementary is the top fundraiser in the entire state of Maryland.
Third grader Delanie Spear raised more than $12,500 this year, compared to the $18,000 she raised in her first three years at Northwestern.
We caught up with Delanie, who says she was able to get donations by going around to different businesses with her father.
Delanie tells 47 ABC, "In the past few years, I've just raised so much money that it's helped a lot of people and I want to help more people."
