Local flower shop preps for Valentine’s Day sales

With Valentine's Day just few days away, local flower shops are gearing up for the love-filled day.

A survey done by the National Retail Federation projects U.S. consumers will spend a total of 18.2 million dollars  on Valentine's Day this year. The survey predicts that 2 billion of that will be spent on flowers.

One local store who has been  feeling the Valentine's rush is Kitty's Shop in Salisbury. The store opened their doors Sunday to take in extra orders.

The co-owner at Kitty's Flowers tell us the week they have to prep in advance with dozens of extra flowers and extra staff.

"We always have extra drivers because obviously the day off we get a lot of deliveries, more so than we normally do," says Robin Gravenor, the Co-owner of Kitty's Flowers.
