Huge gathering in memory of slain Del. correctional officer

There was a huge gathering of support Sunday afternoon in Sussex County for fallen correctional officer Lieutenant Steven Floyd.
The memorial took place at the Circle in Georgetown honoring his life and legacy.
Lieutenant Floyd died this week following a hostage situation at the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center in Smyrna. A total of four prison employees were taken hostage, which ended after a 17.5 hour stand-off.
A medical examiner Floyd's death a homicide by trauma. No further details were released.
The Delaware Department of Correction announced a posthumous promotion of Sergeant Floyd to the rank of Lieutenant this week.
He was referred to as a dedicated officer with a wife, children and grandchildren who worked overtime to help put his children through children.
Sunday's memorial was in support for all correctional officers.
Funeral services have been set for Friday and Saturday at Delaware State Memorial Hall.
