Former Crossroads counselor sentenced on sex abuse charges in Kent Co.

A substance abuse counselor who pleaded guilty to sexually abusing a 16 year old client has been sentenced.

According to Delaware Department of Justice officials, Rebecca Winters has been sentenced to six and a half years in prison,  followed by one year of probation. Winters must also register as a sex offender.

Winters was sentenced on three counts of fourth degree rape. She was originally charged with rape, child sex abuse by a person of trust and providing alcohol to a minor.

The charges stemmed from an investigation involving a boy receiving treatment at Crossroads of Delaware in the summer of 2015. Crossroads of Delaware ceased operations in 2016.
