Downing project fundraiser at Washington Inn and Tavern

There will be a fundraiser this week for the Downing Project at The Washington Inn & Tavern in Princess Anne.

Money raised will be used to upgrade the home Valentina Downing, the grandmother and guardian of the Sells children, who were brutally beaten back in early December.

According to police, their mother's boyfriend allegedly attacked the children and their mom with a hammer.

Their mother, Airelle Sells, died soon after.

This past Saturday, members of the community helped build a wheel-chair ramp for the home.

Tickets for the buffet at the The Washington Inn & Tavern are $20 each, with $5 of each ticket sold going towards the Downing Project.

There will be three seatings: 4 pm, 5:30 pm and 7 pm.
