Del. partnership looking to increase homeownership

In Delaware, two local non-profits are looking to get more residents on the path of homeownership.

Members from Sussex County Habitat for Humanity and Stand By Me,  an organization that helps people achieve financial security,  tells us they've seen a need and demand for financial coaching services in lower Delaware.

The two organizations have created a partnership that provides free financial services and step by step guidance for residents looking to become homeowners.

"What's unique to this it's just not for people who are going to buy habitat houses. The opportunity is open for the whole public, regardless of their financial situation," says Kevin Gilmore, the Executive Director at Sussex County Habitat for Humanity.

Gilmore tells us within the first month of launching this partnership they have received 31 referrals.
